Update July 6, 2020

Dear Clients - We are happy to announce that we are open! Please note that we are primarily providing hair and nail services at this time with very limited waxing services.

Prior to your appointment we ask that you read our new client policy and procedures below. Potomac Hair Design is implementing a number of changes to comply with requirements and guidelines from CDC, the State of Maryland, and Montgomery County as well as implementing additional safety measures. These changes include the following:

  • Limiting the number of clients and employees in the space.
  • Daily temperature checks for employees.
  • Access to hand sanitizer upon entry into the salon and at every station.
  • Four new air purifiers with HEPA filters.
  • Face shields for employees.
  • Regular cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces including door knobs and the reception desk.
  • Scheduled cleanings with halosil - a hydrogen peroxide fogger to disinfect the entire salon.
  • Sneeze guards at the reception desk, and manicure and pedicure stations.
  • Removal of all magazines and any other reading material.
  • Discontinuation of any snacks or refreshments.

  • We are only allowing scheduled appointments as required by the State of Maryland. No walk-ins are allowed but you can call for a same day appointment if one is available.
  • Please be flexible when you make your appointment. We are spacing out appointments to ensure that the salon does not exceed maximum capacity requirements and to ensure proper cleaning between clients as required by law.
  • When you make your appointment, you will be asked to provide your cell phone number so that we can call you on the day of your appointment as further explained below.
  • Please refrain from bringing anyone with you to your appointment. Exceptions will be made where you must have your caregiver or must accompany a child who has an appointment. We are limited in the number of individuals allowed in the salon.
  • All clients must wear a mask at all times inside the salon as required by law. Children also must wear masks. Persons refusing to wear a mask will not be permitted in the salon or be asked to leave the salon. Absolutely no exceptions.
  • Please bring your own mask to the appointment. Please ensure that your mask is tightfitting and fully covers both your mouth and nose. Surgical masks are preferred. Potomac Hair Design is not responsible for any damage to masks, including possible color or chemical damage.
  • On the day of your appointment, please remain in your car until your stylist calls you. This is to ensure that the salon does not exceed maximum capacity requirements.
  • Please leave any bulky items in your car. Any personal items must fit within a 12x12 plastic bag that will be provided to you when you enter the salon. (No hangers will be available for hanging any items.)
  • When it is time for your appointment, your stylist will call the number you provided at the time you scheduled your appointment.
  • Entry into the salon will only be permitted through the front of the salon. The only exception being those who require back door access due to a disability.
  • Upon entering the salon, your stylist will take your temperature with a no-contact forehead device. If your temperature reads 100 and above, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment.
  • By entering the salon, you are affirming that you nor anyone in your household has tested positive for coronavirus, has been diagnosed as possibly having coronavirus, or has experienced any coronavirus symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell) in the last 14 days. You are also affirming that you nor anyone in your household has been knowingly exposed to the coronavirus or traveled outside of the country in the last 14 days.
  • After checking your temperature, your stylist will first ask that you place personal belongings in a plastic bag. Next, she/he will ask that you use the hand sanitizer at the entrance and put on a clean smock or new disposable poncho provided by the salon.
  • If you will be receiving color services, you will be asked to go directly to the stylist’s chair. To ensure social distancing, your stylist’s chair may have moved. Therefore, please wait for the stylist to direct you to the correct chair.
  • If you will be receiving only a haircut, or a perm, or haircut/blow dry, your stylist will direct you to the shampoo area. All clients receiving haircuts, perms, or blow dries must have their hair washed at the salon prior to any services.
  • For blow drys, clients will be asked to hold a plastic sheet provided by the salon to place over the mask and across the face.
  • No eating or drinking is permitted in the salon.
  • We are restricting the use of restrooms to salon employees and will be limiting its use to emergency use only for clients.
  • After your appointment, kindly leave through the back door and dispose of your smock or disposable cape in the trash bin located just outside the back door.
  • Current business hours are 8:30 am – 6 pm Mon-Sat, but subject to change due to evolving circumstances.

If you have questions regarding these procedures, please email ina@potomachairdesign.com. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon!
